Disruption of the Expression of the Cinnamoyl–CoA Reductase (CCR) Gene OsCCR18 Causes Male Sterility in Rice (Oryza sativa L. japonica)

The biological process of anther development is very complex. It remains largely unclear how the cinnamoyl–CoA reductase (CCR) encoding genes function in regulation plants. Here, we establish that CCR family gene OsCCR18 essential for maintaining male fertility rice. transcripts were greatly abundant panicles at S4 and S5 developmental stages subcellular localization proteins was nucleus knockout resulted a severely abnormal degradation tapetum as well granular Ubisch bodies, leading to inability form normal pollen mutants.
